KICS has also worked globally with over 15 different countries and numerous international teams.

Luis Carlos Lobo, 15, is a member of the champion team from Costa Rica. The tournament marked his first time out of his country. “It is a really great experience,” he says. “We learn much about the culture of people all around the world.” Luis and his team stayed in a dormitory – temporarily renamed the “International Village” for the tournament. There they ate meals and played pingpong with players from other teams. While competing in the championship game, Luis was aware of his new friends from Pakistan cheering on his team. “All I can say – they are amazing,” he says. “They are good people.”

“I have had the pleasure of being able to grow my soccer skills, friendships and sense of self-respect through KICS. It has been a blessing to have the guidance of great coaches who have helped to mold me into the player I am today with strong discipline and sportsmanship. Additionally, I have been able to work as a referee and earn a great wage. On top of all these things, KICS has given me the unique opportunity to experience other parts of the world, including my favorite trip, competing in Cuba.”

-Brody Hanlon, Chicago KICS Player

“I am proud to be a supporter of the Chicago KICS Foundation. KICS is a wonderful program that envelops our diverse near south side community with programming that integrates children from all races and all socioeconomic backgrounds in our city. Along with a variety of great local programs, KICS also exposes our youth to international competition and cultural exchange. This past July of 2018, I was pleased to partner with KICS to help send four Chicago Public School youth from the KICS Soccer for Success program to visit France. I encourage you to support Chicago KICS and its mission.”
